Fraudulent insurance claims generally, are costing the industry, as well as the premium paying public, a considerable amount of money every year. Motor fire and theft claims are an area where inurers have understandable concerns.
Our instructing principals will have their own strategies for targeting their investigations in this arena, but all will be looking to detect and defeat fraudulent claims, whilst ensuring that honest claimants receive a speedy and fair settlement, with the minimum of inconvenience.
Prospect Claims are able to provide a comprehensive investigation and enquiry service, that will maximise fraud detection, whilst preserving customer focus for the benefit of the large majority of innocent policyholders.
Our field operatives are experienced in investigation techniques, and they are fully supported by trained and experienced in-house claims handlers.
As with all of our products, we can, and do, tailor our enquiries according to the wishes of our instructing principals, but a typical investigation will consist of:
- Obtaining an indemnity statement from policyholder/last driver to incorporate full loss circumstances
- Enquiries with, and if necessary statements from, alibis
- Insurance and claim history validation
- Collection and/or examination of vehicle and driving documentation using extensive knowledge of document fraud techniques
- Vehicle history enquiries including liaison with previous keeper, vendor, servicing agent, MOT Garage.
- Validation of loss circumstances with Police/Fire Brigade and obtaining completion of ACPO forms
Our reports can be as brief or as comprehensive as required. However in addition to providing factual information gathered during the investigation, we support the needs of the claims handler by providing reference to industry practise and case law, as well as opinions & recommendations on contractual issues, liability and settlement strategy.
